Epilepsy

pic 3.jpeg

Epilepsy is a common disease where periodic seizures hijack the brain. Seizures often make it impossible to control the function of one’s own body. Between the random onset of seizures, those who suffer from epilepsy often feel normal and may have no recollection of seizures occurring. Our lab is focused on detecting seizures and their point of origin inside the brain to improve treatments as well as how epilepsy affects the basic circuits of the brain to chronically cause problems with the ability to think (cognition) or the mood.
